Firebox Repointing & Rebuilding

Where the Heat Meets the Masonry.
The firebox is the area where you build the fire. Over time, the intense heat burns out the mortar joints and cracks the firebricks. If fire reaches behind these bricks, it can ignite the framing of your house.

  • Our Solution: We carefully grind out damaged mortar and repack it with high-temperature refractory mortar, or completely rebuild severely damaged fireboxes with new firebrick.

Smoke Chamber Parging (Restoration)

Improving Draw and Safety.
The smoke chamber is the sloped area just above the damper that funnels smoke into the chimney flue. In many older homes, this area is rough, jagged brick that slows down smoke (causing it to enter the room) and collects dangerous creosote quickly.

  • Our Solution: We “parge” this area, smoothing the surfaces with an insulating mortar. This improves draft dramatically and reduces fire risk.

Damper Repair & Replacement

Stop Heat Loss and Downdrafts.
The damper is the “door” located in the throat of the fireplace that you open to burn a fire and close when not in use. A warped, rusted, or stuck damper is a major energy waster, letting expensive heated air escape up the chimney all winter long.

  • Our Solution: We repair existing mechanisms or install new, energy-efficient top-sealing dampers that lock in heat and keep out pests.

Hearth & Surround Repair

Restoring the Aesthetics.
Loose bricks on the hearth (the floor in front of the fireplace) or cracking stone on the facade aren’t just unsightly—they can be tripping hazards or signs of settling. We provide detailed masonry repairs to restore the beauty of your fireplace surround.

Is your fireplace safe for winter?

Don’t wait for a leak or a draft to tell you something is wrong. Ensure the structural pillar of your heating system is secure.
